Our Process

A financial plan shouldn’t be a box your advisor checks off. Your plan is a living and breathing document that grows with you. A truly comprehensive plan allows us to recommend specific financial planning strategies and a customized investment portfolio.

We believe in democratizing comprehensive wealth management. Our offering is based on providing holistic advice regarding the issues that matter most to you. Our process starts with YOU.

How We Evolve Together

01

Discovery

The Discovery phase is the first step in our financial planning process. In this complimentary, one-hour session, we aim to understand your financial goals and needs while giving you the opportunity to learn about our team and services. Together, we will outline the scope of our relationship and discuss how we can best serve you.

02

Comprehensive Review

In the first phase of our planning process, we conduct a comprehensive review of your financial situation, seeking opportunities for optimization. While we address your stated needs, we also identify and assess any unstated needs, both big and small. This thorough analysis helps us gain a complete understanding of your financial picture.

03

Personalized Recommendations

The second phase of our planning process is where we begin to provide personalized recommendations. During this stage, we present our tax strategies, suggest ways to improve cash flow, and outline other key elements of your financial plan. We also offer various planning scenarios to help you make informed decisions and optimize your plan most effectively.

04

Investment Strategy

The third and final phase of our planning process is where we present a customized investment plan for your entire portfolio and balance sheet. We believe that your financial and tax plan should be the cornerstone of your relationship with your financial planner, which is why we save the investment plan for this stage. Additionally, we address and finalize any loose ends from previous planning meetings.

05

Execution

We fundamentally believe that the most optimal way to execute a financial plan is through ongoing collaboration with our clients. We have predefined checkpoints throughout the year to ensure you are executing your plan effectively. Additionally, we utilize specialized software designed to keep you on track and notify us if you fall behind on critical tasks. If you do encounter any setbacks, we will be right by your side to help you get back on track.

What people are asking

Do I Have Enough Money to Be a Client?

At MDRN, we do not have any asset minimums, meaning you don’t need a minimum amount of investments to be a client. Instead, we believe that there simply needs to be enough complexity in your financial picture to warrant our services. We generally find that individuals or couples making at least $200,000 in total household income (salary, bonuses, RSUs, etc.) and/or those with $500,000 in total savings (401(k)s, brokerage accounts, savings, etc. excluding real estate or business assets) are the best fit for our services.

Are You Fiduciaries?

Yes, we are an independent registered investment advisor and we are fee-only. This means we don’t make commissions, sell proprietary products, and we are obligated to act in your best interest. We are not only legally required to operate this way, but we also fundamentally believe this is the proper way to give financial advice.

Do You Provide Tax Help?

Yes, we spend a significant portion of our time at MDRN creating tax plans and helping you execute them. When tax season rolls around, we will work with you or your tax preparer to ensure our planning is reflected properly on your return.

Are There Limits on How Often We Can Meet?

There are no limits on how often you can meet with us. If additional meetings are required to build or execute your financial plan, there are no extra fees for these meetings. You receive unlimited guidance and access to a team dedicated to optimizing your financial picture.
